Arriva Rail London celebrates two highly commended awards at the National Rail Awards
18 September 2025

For the fifth consecutive year, Arriva Rail London (ARL) employees have been recognised for their outstanding achievements, with two highly commended awards at the 2025 National Rail Awards.
The company received a highly commended award in the Passenger Operator of the Year category, reflecting our colleagues’ ongoing dedication to delivering excellent service across the London Overground network.
Steve Best, managing director, said: “Receiving this recognition in the final year of our concession is a meaningful reflection of the team’s continued dedication. It reflects the legacy we’re proud to be leaving behind – one built on consistent service, community impact and a commitment to passengers. I’m proud of what our colleagues have achieved and pleased to see their efforts acknowledged as we continue to deliver an exceptional service for Londoners.”
Customer host David Cranstoun took home a highly commended award in the Outstanding Personal Contribution category. David’s leadership in our partnership with City Harvest has helped deliver nearly 130,000 meals to vulnerable Londoners, tackling food waste and food insecurity across the capital.
Niall Rooney, customer experience director, said: “Although I’ve only recently joined Arriva Rail London, it’s been inspiring to see the dedication our colleagues bring to their roles every day. David’s commitment to supporting communities through our partnership with City Harvest is a powerful example of that spirit in action. Across the network, our teams consistently go the extra mile to make a difference – not just for passengers, but for the people and communities we serve.”
ARL was also shortlisted for the Great Place to Work category, demonstrating the company’s continued focus on creating a positive, inclusive and supportive environment for its people.
